We receive and actively solicit roughly 30-50 writer applications per month. We look and ask for recent samples in the big three niches: personal development, health/weight loss, and business/marketing.
Our editing team reviews applications and samples to score each applicant based on three factors: experience, engagement, and persuasion. We look for samples that hooks readers immediately, makes strong points/statements, and end with a compelling call-to-action (CTA).
We request a 300-word paid sample with a strict set of guidelines and instructions. The applicants have 24 hours to deliver it. Our chief editor reviews the sample against an internal checklist to make sure it is up to our editorial standards.
Our chief editor ranks the remaining applicants by score and typically approves the top 25%, depending on their schedule/availability as well as our current client pipeline. The remaining applicants are “waitlisted” pending the next round of application reviews.
All writers are required to view a series of direct response training videos as part of the onboarding process. They learn how to create buyer/audience personas, craft compelling headlines, write captivating leads, proven storytelling formulas, benefit-driven bullet points, and strong call-to-actions with scarcity.
The final round of the process requires all new writers to take a skills assessment for each content type they signed up for (i.e., blog posts, sales letters, emails, website copy, etc.). It is a Pass/Fail grading system based on a mixture of multiple-choice questions and brief writing samples.
For each skills assessment they pass, the writers are approved to accept any and all orders for that specific content type. As a writer continues to successfully pass the skills assessments for additional content types, they can increase the variety of orders they can accept.
At the very end of the process, only between 5-10% of the original applicants are approved to work on your orders. Simply put, your content is worked on by proven wordsmiths specifically trained to craft words that drive leads and conversions.
